The Sony Alpha 1 mirrorless camera has launched in India, and the company calls it its most advanced and innovative camera to date. At its core sits a 50.1-megapixel full-frame stacked Exmor RS image sensor paired with the BIONZ XR processing engine. Video, stills and stabilisation

Beyond 8K capture, the Alpha 1 records 4K at 120fps and offers an ISO range of 100 to 32,000. It can capture 8,640x5,760 pixels at 49.7-megapixel in a 3:2 aspect ratio. Stabilisation comes from a 5-axis sensor-shift mechanism, and long exposure noise reduction is on board as well.

Storage, connectivity and battery

Two card slots accept SD, SDHC (UHS-I/II), SDXC (UHS-I/II) and CFexpress Type A media. The mechanical and electronically controlled shutter includes a silent shooting mode. Connectivity covers a Micro-USB port, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm mic terminal and a LAN terminal, alongside a built-in microphone and monaural speaker.

A USB Type-C port supports SuperSpeed USB 10-Gbps (USB 3.2) transfer speeds and power delivery. Sony rates the battery at around 430 shots using the viewfinder and around 530 shots using the LCD.
