The Redmi A1 Plus is Redmi India's latest budget smartphone, priced as low as Rs 6,999 during launch offers — making it one of the most feature-packed entries in the sub-Rs 8,500 segment. Building on the Redmi A1 with the key addition of a fingerprint sensor, this phone targets first-time buyers who want security, a big battery, and a clean display without breaking the bank.
Redmi A1 Plus Price and Availability
Redmi has introduced the Redmi A1 Plus in three colour options — Light Blue, Black, and Light Green. The phone is available in two storage variants: the 2GB RAM + 32GB storage model is priced at Rs 7,499, while the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant carries a price tag of Rs 8,499. However, as part of a special Diwali launch offer that runs until October 31, buyers can pick up the two variants for Rs 6,999 and Rs 7,999 respectively, along with an instant discount of Rs 500.
The phone went on sale from October 17 and can be purchased through Mi Home stores, Xiaomi's official website, and Flipkart and other authorised retail channels. It was first launched in Kenya before making its way to India.
Display and Design
The Redmi A1 Plus sports a 6.52-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The panel supports a 120Hz touch sampling rate for smoother touch response during everyday use. The device accommodates dual SIM cards and comes with a pre-installed FM radio tuner — a handy feature for users in areas with limited internet connectivity.
Performance and Storage
Under the hood, the Redmi A1 Plus is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 processor, paired with either 2GB or 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Internal storage is 32GB on both variants, but can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card — generous headroom for photos, videos, and apps. The device ships with Android 12 Go edition, which is optimised for entry-level hardware and keeps the system responsive on modest RAM.
Redmi A1 Plus Camera Setup
Photography is handled by a dual rear camera system. The primary shooter is an 8-megapixel lens, accompanied by a secondary AI lens. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Both cameras support multiple shooting modes and AI-assisted features for everyday photo and video capture.
Battery Life and Connectivity
One of the Redmi A1 Plus's strongest selling points is its 5000mAh battery, which supports 10W charging — and the charger is included in the box. The phone also supports OTG, allowing users to connect USB peripherals or transfer data to other devices. Connectivity options include a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Micro-USB port. The fingerprint sensor on the back provides biometric security, a step up from the standard Redmi A1.
