Western Digital: World’s first hard disk drive with 22TB storage launched in India, know other features.
Western Digital has launched a new hard disk drive (HDD) Ultrastar DC HC570 in the Indian market. This hard disk drive has been introduced with 22 TB of storage. Ultrastar DC HC570 HDD is also the world’s first largest storage hard disk. It is a Conventional Magnetic Recording (CMR) hard disk drive with 22 TB of storage, which comes with CMR drive architecture supporting ePMR technology. The hard disk is available for purchase at the company’s national distributors and Tech Data India.
OptiNAND, Energy Assisted PMR (ePMR), ArmorCache and HelioSeal technology have been used in the new hard disk drive. Using Aerial Density Leadership Technology in this hard disk, the platter is divided into ten disks of 2.2TB each. Thereby, it reduces TCO for drive innovation, aerial density leadership cloud and high capacity drives.
The disc also comes with Write Cache Enabled (WCE) Mode and Write Cache Disabled (WCD) Mode, which helps in keeping your data secure. When operating in WCE mode, ArmorCache ensures that the DRAM cache is protected and none of your data will be lost in the event of an emergency power off. When operating in WCD mode, the drive will ensure that all user data in the DRAM is protected in the event of an emergency power off and the drive will work with WCE. That is, in both the modes you will get good performance and data security.
Launching it in India, Khalid Wani, Senior Director – Sales, India, Western Digital said, “We are excited to introduce the world’s first 22TB CMR HDD in India. We are continually working to help meet the industry’s capacity demands, as well as support the growing data center economy for decades to come.
