Always on display feature will be available through update in OnePlus Watch

The OnePlus Watch is finally getting one of its most requested features. OnePlus has confirmed that Always On Display will arrive on the OnePlus Watch through an OTA (over-the-air) update, addressing strong demand from users since the smartwatch first launched alongside the OnePlus 9 series in India. Priced at Rs 16,999, the watch is positioned against rivals from OnePlus competitors such as Xiaomi, Amazfit and Huawei.

OnePlus Watch Always On Display Update

This was the company's first smartwatch, and at launch it shipped without an Always On Display mode, which quickly became a sticking point for buyers used to glanceable watch faces. In a blog post, OnePlus said that after huge demand from users, it decided to deliver the feature via a software update rather than reserving it for a future model. Because the rollout comes through an OTA update, existing owners will not need to buy new hardware to get Always On Display on their OnePlus Watch.

The same blog also highlighted how tightly the watch integrates with the wider OnePlus ecosystem. If you own a OnePlus TV, the smartwatch doubles as a remote, and OnePlus claims the watch will switch your OnePlus TV off automatically if you are watching at a low volume and take a nap for half an hour. It is the kind of convenience feature that helps the OnePlus Watch stand out against rivals from Xiaomi, Amazfit and Huawei in the same price band.

OnePlus Watch Design and Display

The OnePlus Watch features a 1.39-inch HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 454x454 pixels, protected by a layer of 2.5D curved glass that gives the face a smooth, premium feel. The AMOLED panel is what makes the upcoming Always On Display practical, since it can keep a watch face lit while sipping power. On the software side, the watch surfaces alerts for every incoming call and message from your phone, and lets you adjust almost the entire range of settings directly from your wrist instead of reaching for the companion app.

Fitness and Health Tracking

For fitness enthusiasts, the OnePlus Watch offers 110 workout modes and can automatically detect when a workout begins. Health monitoring is handled by an SpO2 sensor that tracks blood oxygen levels, complemented by stress detection, guided breathing exercises, a rapid heart rate alert and a sedentary reminder that nudges you to move. For connectivity and accurate distance tracking on outdoor runs and rides, the watch supports both Bluetooth and built-in GPS, so you can leave your phone behind during a workout.

Battery and Durability

Durability is covered by IP68 and 5ATM water resistance ratings, meaning the OnePlus Watch can shrug off sweat, rain and submersion. Powering it all is a 405mAh battery with fast charging support, and OnePlus claims battery backup of up to one week on a single charge. That endurance is a meaningful advantage over many full-featured smartwatches that need topping up every day or two.
