Reliance Jio may soon launch 4G Android phone
TRAI subscription data of September 2020 revealed that Reliance Jio has reduced the number of new users every month. TRAI had reported that Bharti Airtel added twice as many subscribers as Reliance Jio. Market research firm ICICI Securities estimates that Jio will now accelerate the launch of its low-cost 4G Android smartphone.
Mukesh Ambani-led telecom company plans to bring Android phones for less than Rs 5000 in partnership with Google. Search giant Google will handle the software of the device while Jio hardware. However, there is no information related to the specifications of any upcoming Jio phone. Now analysts predict that the company will soon bring in cheaper 4G phones due to the decline in the addition of new users.
Jio 4G Android phones to be launched in the first quarter of 2021
In September, a report was told that cheap 4G phones from Jio and Google will be launched in December. However, it is now reported that these cheap phones will come on the market in the first quarter of 2021. Under the partnership, Google and Jio are working on developing affordable 4G and 5G smartphones.
Reliance Jio added 1.5 million new subscribers in September while Airtel received 3.6 million new subscribers. Talking about Jio’s active subscribers base percentage, it is higher than Bharti Airtel.
It is worth noting that Jio touched 100 million subscribers in just 5 months. Jio had revealed that the company aims to become the fastest leading telecom operator with 500 million subscribers. The company became the largest telecom company last month. However, the company is finding it difficult to achieve a 500 million userbase right now.
It is expected that after the arrival of cheap Android 4G phones in the market, Jio will also be able to add new subscribers. However, no launch date is currently known.
