The Axon 20 5G is the world's first smartphone with an invisible under-display selfie camera, and Chinese maker ZTE has now opened it up to the global market. After launching in China, ZTE is taking reservations abroad so buyers can secure one of a limited run, with shipping set to begin on December 21.

Smartphone design is moving fast, and alongside foldable displays, camera engineering keeps advancing. To deliver a clean full-screen view without a punch-hole or notch, some brands have used pop-up selfie modules, while companies including Xiaomi and Nokia have been developing under-display cameras.
ZTE is the first to ship that idea. The under-display selfie camera on the ZTE Axon 20 5G is a 32-megapixel sensor hidden beneath the screen, leaving the front entirely uninterrupted.
Buyers can register from 11 countries, including the United Kingdom, South Korea, Malaysia and the UAE. Reservations are made by sharing an email address, and the company says only limited units will be available for sale. The global price has not yet appeared on ZTE's official website, though it may be revealed before shipping.
Display and design
The phone uses a 6.92-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and no punch-hole or notch cutout, giving a true full-screen view. Resolution is 2460x1080 pixels, the panel supports 10-bit color depth, and the touch sampling rate reaches 240Hz.
Design is a clear focus too. The body measures just 7.98mm thick and weighs 198 grams. Along with the under-display camera, ZTE has fitted an under-screen speaker and an under-screen fingerprint scanner.
Performance, cameras and battery
Under the hood sits a Snapdragon 765G processor paired with up to 8GB of RAM. A 4220mAh battery keeps it running, with 30W fast charging support.
On the back, a quad-camera setup is built around a 64-megapixel primary sensor. It is joined by:
