Timex appears to be readying an alarm clock that doubles as a wireless phone charger. A new Timex Alarm Watch with wireless charging has been certified by the Wireless Power Consortium, hinting at a launch soon. Just place your phone on top of the clock to start charging.
A wireless charger built into an alarm clock
Timex has added wireless charging to the top surface of what looks like a traditional alarm watch. The Wireless Power Consortium certification, granted a few days ago, shows a cylindrical table-top design with a flat surface for wireless charging. The front houses a display screen that shows the time in red LED light.
5W output and a TW300 model number
The listing rates the charger's power output at 5 watts and lists a registration date of 20 November. The device carries the model number TW300. Timex has not officially announced it, and there is no word yet on a launch date or which markets it will reach - though certification suggests an announcement may be near.
