The Jio Book laptop is finally here — Reliance Jio unveiled its first-ever laptop at the India Mobile Congress (IMC 2022) held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi, and it is priced at under ₹15,000. Running on Jio's own operating system with select Windows apps pre-loaded, the Jio Book laptop is designed to bring affordable computing to India's mass market.
Jio Book Laptop Specifications
At the heart of the Jio Book is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor — a chip well-proven across budget smartphones — paired with an Adreno 610 GPU and a maximum clock speed of 2.0GHz. The device sports an 11.6-inch display and is backed by a battery rated for up to 13 hours of use on a single charge, making it a capable companion for students and light users alike.

Design, Software, and Jio Ecosystem Integration
The Jio Book has a plastic body with Jio branding on the back panel. Its keyboard features a dedicated Jio-branded Windows button, a visual cue to its tight integration with Jio's ecosystem. At first glance the device closely resembles a Chromebook in form factor.
On the software side, the Jio Book runs Jio's proprietary operating system rather than a full version of Windows, though it does include some essential Windows apps. The browser that ships pre-installed is Microsoft Edge. A shortcut bar for the camera is also built into the interface, making it quick to jump into video calls via the onboard HD camera.
Several Jio apps come pre-installed, and the laptop also supports Jio Cloud PC — Reliance's cloud computing initiative — which could allow users to run heavier workloads remotely without taxing the device's modest hardware. Built-in 4G connectivity means users can access the internet without needing a separate Wi-Fi connection, a significant selling point for a budget device targeting India's tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Availability
Reliance Jio has not formally announced an official sale date, but reports at the time of the IMC 2022 reveal suggested the Jio Book would be made available around Diwali. Given its sub-₹15,000 price point, the laptop is positioned to challenge entry-level Chromebooks and the growing segment of education-focused devices in India.
