The Black Shark 5 Pro and Black Shark 5 are two new gaming smartphones launched by Black Shark in China, both packing top-tier hardware, a 720Hz touch sampling rate AMOLED display, and SharkEye RGB lighting on the back panel.
Black Shark 5 Pro and Black Shark 5: Prices and Variants
The Black Shark 5 Pro is available in three storage configurations. The base 8GB + 256GB variant is priced at CNY 4,199 (approximately Rs 50,100). The 12GB + 256GB variant comes in at CNY 4,699 (approximately Rs 56,100), while the top-end 16GB + 512GB model costs CNY 5,499 (approximately Rs 65,600). It is offered in Black and White colour options.
The standard Black Shark 5 also ships in three variants: 8GB + 128GB at CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs 33,400), 12GB + 128GB at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 35,800), and 12GB + 256GB at CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs 39,300). Colour choices include Black, White, and Gray. Black Shark has not confirmed an India launch for either model at the time of writing.
Display and Performance Specifications
Both handsets feature a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and DC Dimming. The headline gaming feature is the 720Hz touch sampling rate, and both phones include a dual-zone pressure-sensitive display — a feature also seen on the iQOO 9 series.
Under the hood, the Black Shark 5 Pro runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, while the standard Black Shark 5 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. Both devices are cooled by a vapour chamber system; the Pro model additionally carries a large thermal cooling coil for sustained peak performance. Dedicated trigger buttons are present on both phones to improve the in-game experience.
Camera Setup
The Black Shark 5 Pro sports a triple rear camera system led by a 108MP primary sensor, paired with a 13MP ultrawide lens and a 5MP telephoto. The standard Black Shark 5 uses a 64MP primary camera accompanied by a 13MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. Both phones share a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
Battery and Software
Both the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro are powered by a 4,650 mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The phones run JoyUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box.
