The Black Shark 4S series has officially launched in China, and it brings some serious upgrades over the previous Black Shark 4 lineup. Two models are on offer — the standard Black Shark 4S and the more powerful Black Shark 4S Pro — both designed to push gaming smartphone performance to a new level.
Black Shark 4S Design and Display
The Black Shark 4S series closely resembles the Asus ROG Phone in terms of aesthetics. Unlike the previous series, the new models drop the X mark on the back but retain the signature mechanical shoulder buttons, which now use magnetic power lifting for a smoother actuation feel.
Both phones sport a 6.67-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels (FHD+). The refresh rate hits 144Hz while the touch sampling rate is an impressive 720Hz — critical for competitive gaming. The panel includes two pressure-sensitive zones and a centred punch-hole for the front camera.
Black Shark 4S Specs: Processor, RAM and Storage
The standard Black Shark 4S runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, the same chipset used in its predecessor. The Black Shark 4S Pro, however, steps up to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+, making it one of the most powerful gaming phones at launch. The previous Black Shark 4 Pro used the Snapdragon 888, so this is a meaningful jump.
Both devices use LPDDR5 RAM, though the Pro model runs a faster 6400 Mbps module compared to the standard model's 5500 Mbps module, giving the Pro an edge in multitasking and load times. Storage on both is UFS 3.1, and the Pro additionally supports an SSD disk array system for even faster read and write speeds.

Camera and Connectivity
Both models come with a triple rear camera setup. The standard 4S packs a 48 MP primary sensor, while the Pro upgrades this to 64 MP. Shared across both phones is an 8 MP 120-degree ultra-wide lens and a 5 MP macro shooter. For selfies, a 20 MP punch-hole camera is fitted on both devices.
Connectivity is equally well-equipped on both phones. You get dual SIM support, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS (GPS, A-GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou, and QZSS), NFC, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack — a feature many flagships have dropped. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor handles biometrics, while RGB lighting and dual stereo speakers round out the gaming-centric package.
Both phones run JOYUI 12.8, which is based on MIUI, and are backed by a 4500 mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.
