Apple's Beats brand has launched a Special Edition Powerbeats Pro in the wireless earbuds segment, created in partnership with Fragment Design, the label of Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara. The new model wraps the existing Powerbeats Pro hardware in an all-black, monochromatic look that the company calls a 'Black-on-Black' design. It carries a higher price than the standard version because of its exclusive styling and FRGMT branding.
Apple's Beats brand Special Edition: price and availability
The Special Edition Powerbeats Pro is priced at $249.99, which is about Rs 18,200. By comparison, the regular Powerbeats Pro sells for $199.95, roughly Rs 14,582, so the special edition commands a premium for its design.
Buyers will be able to purchase it from January 29 through the Apple website worldwide, including in India.
What sets the design apart
- Pure black finish with a monochromatic 'Black-on-Black' look
- FRGMT branding from Fragment Design
- A double lightning logo on the earbuds
- A charging case that also carries the black-on-black design and double lightning logo
Features and specifications
Apart from the styling, the Special Edition shares the same specifications as the regular Powerbeats Pro. It uses the Apple H1 chip and lets you connect one earbud or both at once. The earbuds also support Siri with hands-free control, so you can play a song or make a call using voice commands.
The earbuds include wireless audio sharing along with on-device track and volume control. Beats claims more than 32 hours of total use on a single charge, split between battery in the earbuds and the case.
