At CES 2021, Lenovo unveiled a refreshed lineup of Lenovo Legion gaming laptops built around AMD's next-generation mobile Ryzen processors (the 5000-H series). The new range covers the Legion 7, Legion Slim 7, Legion 5 Pro and Legion 5, with sales expected to begin in February.
Each model targets a different kind of PC gamer, pairing recent Ryzen chips with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics. Here is what the company has confirmed about each machine in the series.
Lenovo Legion 7: the flagship gaming laptop
The Legion 7 is designed specifically for PC gamers. It runs the AMD Ryzen 9 5900H mobile processor and uses an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU for graphics. The 16-inch IPS display has a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio and support for Dolby Vision.
According to Lenovo, an AI engine optimizes system performance through machine learning. For thermals, the laptop uses the ColdFront 3.0 cooling system, which combines an intelligent intake with turbocharged dual fans and chamber technology to keep the machine from overheating during long gaming sessions.
Legion Slim 7 and Legion 5 Pro
Legion Slim 7
Lenovo describes the Legion Slim 7 as the lightest 15-inch gaming laptop in the world. It pairs AMD's latest processor with a 15.6-inch display and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU featuring Max-Q design.
Legion 5 Pro
The Legion 5 Pro features a 16-inch QHD display, the AMD Ryzen 9 5800H mobile processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU. Its standout feature is immersive 3D audio with soundtracking, along with dual headphone sharing and Bluetooth surround sound.
Legion 5 and the Legion S600 gaming station
The Legion 5 comes in 15-inch and 17-inch screen sizes. Both run the AMD Ryzen 9 5800H mobile processor and use an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU for graphics.
Alongside the laptops, Lenovo announced the Legion S600 gaming station. It offers Always On Charging with Hang to Charge technology and a Qi-enabled base for the Lenovo Legion H600 Wireless Gaming Headset, which can also charge a smartphone. With a 10W output, it can top up other supported devices as well.
