The OnePlus 9 is shaping up to be the company's next flagship, and early reports point to a flat display and fast wireless charging support. Leaks suggest the lineup will include a Pro variant with a quad rear camera, alongside a possible budget model called the OnePlus 9 Lite. Here is what the rumours reveal so far.
OnePlus is preparing to launch its new flagship in the new year, and one report claims the device will arrive with a flat display rather than a curved one, plus support for fast wireless charging. Much of what has surfaced echoes the existing OnePlus 8 Pro.
OnePlus 9 expected specifications
According to a report from XDA Developers, the OnePlus 9 is expected to pack a 4500mAh battery, up from the 4300mAh cell in the OnePlus 8 Pro, with 65 Watt fast charging support. Several details line up closely with the previous generation.
The standard and Pro models are tipped to run Qualcomm's latest 5nm Snapdragon 888 chipset, while the more affordable OnePlus 9 Lite is expected to use the Snapdragon 865. The handset is reported to run Android 11 with Oxygen OS, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Display and design changes on the OnePlus 9
The OnePlus 9 is said to feature a 6.55-inch full-HD Plus display (1080x2400 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Reports suggest the company opted against a QHD panel to help conserve battery life.
This time the series is expected to switch to a flat display instead of a curved one. Few design details have been confirmed beyond some expected cosmetic changes to the flagship line.
What about the OnePlus 9 Lite?
As reported by Android Central, the Lite version is expected to borrow heavily from the recently launched 8T. It may carry a 90Hz or 120Hz AMOLED display, a quad-camera setup similar to the 8T, and the same super-fast 65-watt warp charge support.
Camera setup
The tipster Digital Chat Station reported that the OnePlus 9 series will not include the usual telephoto and periscope lenses, which limits the phone's zoom capabilities. The tipster did not confirm whether this is a supply chain issue, but claimed that fewer phones will integrate that camera lens technology next year. A separate report suggested the series may come with a Leica camera lens, which could mean a notable photography upgrade over previous generations.
The standard model may carry a triple rear camera led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor, while the Pro is expected to step up to a quad rear camera setup with an IP68 rating.
