Three new Nokia smartphones could be heading to market soon, and one of them is tipped to pack a 5050mAh battery. A fresh report points to three battery modules clearing certification, which usually signals that new Nokia smartphones are close to launch.
According to the Nokiamob.net report, the upcoming batteries are the WT 340 (5050mAh, DC 3.85 V, 19.44 Wh), the CN110 (4470mAh, 3.87 V, 17.29 Wh) and the V730 (3900mAh, 3.85 V, 15.015 Wh). The first two modules have received TUV Rheinland Japan certification, while the third was certified by Element Materials Technology.
What the new Nokia smartphones could offer
The report suggests at least three new handsets may launch with these batteries. The phrase 'at least' is used because the Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 5.4 already share similar batteries, so the company is expected to bring more devices in the coming time.
Right now, the highest battery capacity on a Nokia phone is 4500mAh, found on the Nokia 8.3 5G and the budget Nokia 2.4. If the report holds true, the 5050mAh module would make it the first Nokia mobile to cross 5000mAh, and fast charging is also expected alongside the battery.
Which models might get which battery
It is not yet clear which handset will get the 5000mAh-class cell, but the report suggests it could be the most-awaited Nokia 9. The other modules may be split across the lineup as follows:
- 5050mAh (WT 340) - possibly the Nokia 9
- 4470mAh (CN110) - possibly the Nokia 6 or Nokia 7
- 3900mAh (V730) - possibly the budget Nokia 1.4 or Nokia 4.4
Nokia 5.4 as a reference point
For context, HMD Global earlier launched the Nokia 5.4. It has a 6.39-inch HD+ display with a punch-hole design and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. The phone ships with Android 10 and promises at least two Android OS updates.
Memory options include 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. The rear camera setup pairs a 48-megapixel primary sensor with a 5-megapixel ultra-wide, a 2-megapixel macro and a 2-megapixel depth sensor, while a 16-megapixel punch-hole camera handles selfies. Security covers both a rear fingerprint sensor and face unlock, and a 4000mAh battery supports up to 10-watt charging.
