Lenovo is preparing to shake up the budget smartphone market with a new series aimed squarely at Xiaomi's Redmi Note 9 lineup. The company has teased the phones on Weibo, and early reports suggest the range could include three affordable, thin-bezel handsets.
A new budget series to take on the Redmi Note 9
Lenovo's upcoming series is expected to be economical, positioning it against the new Redmi Note 9 model that launched in China this week. According to the teaser, Lenovo could introduce three new budget phones, each featuring a thin bezel. The lineup may be named 6, since the company paired its teaser with the phrase 6 Coming.
A teaser timed right after Redmi's
Notably, Lenovo posted its teaser just hours after the Redmi Note 9 series teaser went live. So far, Lenovo has not shared any details about the phones' features beyond the teaser image.
A re-branded Moto G9 Power?
Some reports claim Lenovo may launch a re-branded version of the Moto G9 Power under the new series. The phone was recently spotted on the US FCC with model numbers XT2091-3 and XT2091-8, while a new variant of the Moto G9 Power - model number XT2091-7 - has appeared on the TENAA certification site.
