Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone discontinued, now this device will replace it
Samsung has officially discontinued the Galaxy Note smartphone series. The iconic smartphone lineup is now being replaced by the Galaxy S-series Ultra model. The company has confirmed this information at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022.
At the event, Samsung smartphone chief Roh Tae-Moon was questioned about the future of the Galaxy Note lineup. On this, he mentioned the Ultra variant of the Galaxy S-series and said that “Galaxy Note will now come under the name Ultra.”
Galaxy S- Ultra to replace Galaxy Note
Samsung introduced the last Galaxy Note lineup — Galaxy Note 20 Series — in 2020. The next year (2021), the company launched the Galaxy S21 Ultra with support for S-Pen and discontinued the Note 21 lineup. The company said that they will not launch the Note series that year, but they did not say that they are ending it.
This year Samsung introduced Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones in the Galaxy S-series lineup. Of these, the Ultra variant comes with support for the S-Pen as well as a dedicated slot to house the stylus. This is exactly the same as Samsung’s Note series gets a dedicated slot to keep the stylus. After the cancellation of S-Pen support for the Galaxy S21 and the launch of the Galaxy Note 21 series, many had assumed that Samsung would now end the Note series. This became even more apparent after the presence of the slot that houses the stylus in the company’s latest Galaxy S22 Ultra. And now at MWC 2022, Samsung has officially announced the end of the Note series.
