Apple’s watches have a worldwide market share of 51% in 2020, with 26 lakh watches sold in India; Watch 3 and 6 were in demand

According to the report, 2.6 million (26 lakh) units were shipped across India last year. It has grown by 139.3% on an annual basis. During this time the demand for fitness bands decreased, but the demand for smartwatches increased.
Demand for Apple Watch 3 and 6 series grew
According to the report, smartwatches that run on third-party applications have a market share of 24.5%. At the same time, Apple was the leader in this category with 51% market share. Navkendar Singh, Research Director, Client Devices & IPDS, IDC India, said, “India has seen growth mainly in the Apple Watch 3 and Watch 6 series in 2020. Apple Watch has strengthened its hold on Indian customers.”
Benefit of promotional discount
In the Indian market, customers bought it fiercely due to price cuts on the old series of Apple Watch and bank offers along with promotional discounts on Series 5 and Series 6. Jaipal Singh, Associate Research Manager, Client Devices, IDC India, said that now the price in smartwatches is no longer a big challenge for customers.
Series 6 and SE sold 1.29 crore units
As per the report, the Apple Watch Series 6 and SE have been seen in demand worldwide. The company has sold a total of 12.9 million (1.29 crore) units. The company had a 40% market share of Watch in the last quarter of 2020. While the annual growth of other companies grew at a rate of 1.5% in 2020, Apple on the other hand maintained its strong sales. Its market share saw growth of 6%.
